MY STORY

I am very excited to share my journey in real estate investing with all of you! I have become so passionate about my projects and I hope my readers will learn from and enjoy following the ups and downs of this journey with me. I know it won't be an easy feat, but in the end, my hope is that it will prove to be very rewarding.
My interest in real estate began in the AMAZING mountain town of Canmore, Alberta. This is where I grew up, and is also where my mom built her first investment property. My younger brother and I were her "little helpers". We'd paint trim, help with flooring, sand drywall mud, ect. I was 7, my brother was 5.
Not kidding...

Today, I am SO appreciative that she involved us so much in the process. Had she not, I wouldn't be where I am today. Even though back then my motivation stemmed from wanting the $1 (literally one loonie) she gave us every Friday to go to the Olde Tyme Candy Shoppe. Yummm.... Jawbreakers..

Seriously though, if you are a parent reading this and you are
interested or already invest in property, it is such a valuable
experience for your children to involve them at an early age.
I would never be able to say at age 18 I was able to buy my first
property and now at 24 I own 3 investment properties with
multiple others in the works! It's wild!
Since her real estate ventures in Alberta proved to be successful,
my mom moved back to her home province of Saskatchewan,
in which the economy was proving to be
advantageous for investors. A few years after high school,
I moved to Saskatchewan as well. The main reason being to
develop an investment opportunity with my mom (you can
read about the exciting profit gained from this project in the
blog tab)

Saskatchewan has proven to be a great place to invest as
we have experienced some notable ROI's (Returns on Investments)
durived from the purchase of property. I am very thankful for
the hard work of my mother, together we are very much looking
forward to the near future joint ventures.

Next, I'll bring Scott into the picture. He is the love of my life and my investment partner. I'll tell you the story of how we met, because I love it. It's like our very own fairy tale!
Next to investing and flipping real estate, travel is a HUGE passion of mine. In 2014 I decided to go backpacking in South America. I met up with my best friend who was teaching English in Colombia at the time. We decided to adventure to a hostel on top of a mountain, from which the views were absolutly insane! It was quite the journey in itself to get to the base of the hostel and once we got there, we had to take a motorcycle taxi up to the very top. The place was amazing. They grew all their own food and had coffee plants in the backyard! Anyways, we finally get to the top of the mountain and I see Scott; tall, dark hair, Australian, I instantly had a crush on him. We hit it off and started traveling together alongside a couple of other friends. A few weeks later, it ended up being just the two of us! We fell in love and traveled for six months through Central America, Mexico and the States before we decided to start a life in Canada together!
I told you.. cute, right?!

Now back to business; WHY do we want to become successful real estate investors?

Firstly, Falling in love with someone who comes from the opposite side of the world is not easy. His family lives

14,143 km away from us. It would mean everything to us to be able to have the freedom to visit his adorable niece and nephew, attend the weddings of his best mates or the birthday party of my best friend who lives in England. Ideally, we want to do so without having to ask permission or use up all my vacation days, because OOPS, I already have!
Now what?? I can't live like this forever!!!
These moments in life are important to the both of us, and it hurts me to think of missing out on them. I do not want to live a life that waits for the weekend, while the week consists of solely staring at the clock. (really, it's only been five minutes?!). Get me home so I can read articles on investing! (slightly obsessed, I'll admit to that) Neither Scott nor I are meant to live this life style, and we don't feel it suits us at all. Maybe this gypsy living was instilled in me when my mom took us out of public school in grade 9, and we began a year-long road trip to Mexico. It could have come from the summer my dad drove us around the States, or it could be that my four years of on-and-off backpacking has made it hard for me to stay in one place.

I can envision Scott and I living in a small beach town for six months out of the year (maybe somewhere in Central America? Asia?). We would live a modest lifestyle
without the fancy home or car. We would simply need
enough to live comfortably, and wherever that may be,
I'm sure we would do a killer job of renovating our property!
We would dedicate our time to projects that are meaningful
to the both of us, on our own schedule, without waking up
to a blaring alarm clock because I HAVE to. I want to get
up in the morning when my body is ready to, and because
I am EXCITED to start my day. I would love to be able to do
yoga and eat fresh fruit every morning like I have done
traveling in the past. This is the lifestyle I would like to
lead on a day-to-day basis and be comfortable
enough financially to do so. My family is EXTREMELY
important to me, so I would love the freedom to be able
to come back to Canada for a few months out of the year,
as well as being able to visit Scott's family in Australia
every year as well.
Now, let's get to my goal: to have enough passive income
from my properties to retire at age 30. Is that crazy?! Maybe so, but this is my goal, and I am set on achieving it. I know it will require A LOT of hard work on my part, and I know that it will be stressful at times, but I am extremely confident that Scott and I can make this dream a reality. This dream is what continues to motivate me every day.
Keep an eye out for our upcoming projects on my blog. If you wish you to subscribe to my mailing list, go to the "contact" tab!
I will be describing these projects in great detail, and will try my best to keep up-to-date in terms of the obstacles we face, our solutions to overcoming them, and the rewards we reap from our projects in the long run.
I find it funny that most children growing up aspired to be a doctor, a veterinarian, or a teacher. I always knew that my dream was to become a real estate investor and whatever interim career I chose would simply be a stepping stone to get me there (sooner than later, I hope). I used to continually ask myself the question of what I was doing with my life, and it took me a while to realize that the answer I wanted to give was actually possible at this point in my life. Scott and I have been working to familiarize ourselves with the ins-and-outs of the industry, and have joined an amazing network of investors which has provided us with countless strategies for success.

I always knew this is what i wanted for myself, and now, with Scott by my side, i cannot wait to share this experience with him. Also did i mention he is a Carpenter who is AMAZING at renovations!! Some things are just meant to be!!!
